Education

Ph. D in Computer Vision by the Polytechnical University of Catalonia (UPC) (2021)

Master in Electrical Engineering, Multimedia specialisation at UPC (2017)

Electrical Engineering, Multimedia specialisation at UPC (2015)

Work experience

April 2023 - Current

Project researcher @ NII - Satoh-lab

I'm currently conducting research on event cameras, focusing both in fundamental research and advanced algorithms.

April 2021 - March 2023

Postdoctoral researcher @ NII - Satoh-lab

I conducted research using computer vision techniques, mainly multiple object tracking, face detection, and classification to analyze Japanese politicians' portrayal on public and private TV channels over the past 20 years in a multidisciplinary team of political and computer scientists.

September 2017 - March 2021

PhD candidate | Deep Learning Engineer @ UPC - Image Processing Group | AutomaticTV

I pursued my PhD in AutomaticTV, a company devoted to automatic productions of sports, and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, under the supervision of Professors Ferran Marqués and Xavier Giró-i-Nieto, and Dr. Ignasi Rius. I was in charge of transfer state-of-the-art knowledge, introducing Deep Learning techniques to the team, working on object detection, segmentation, and multiple object tracking, and was in charge of the Deep Learning pipeline, from generating and maintaining the dataset to training and delivering the models to the production team.

March 2017 - August 2017

Research intern @ NII - Satoh-lab

I worked on a project using Multiple Object Tracking and Segmentation for query expansion for instance retrieval.

September 2014 - February 2017

Research assistant @ UPC - Image Processing Group

My work consisted on assisting PhD candidates by optimizing the coding of the algorithms (Matlab and C) and building visualization tools in Matlab to provide insights on different aspects of their methods. During that time, I also worked on top of the research done by Dr. David Varas, under the supervision of Professor Ferran Marqués, which resulted in both my Bachelor Thesis and Master Thesis.

June 2014 - September 2014

Intern @ BCN VISION

My first job in the computer vision field! BCN Vision is a company devoted to monitoring a production chain in order to detect defective pieces. I worked making viability studies on how we could detect defects on the manufactured pieces for both client and production team.

Other

I love sports, music, and table games. Hit me if you are around Tokyo for a match of Volleyball or Soccer, or a improv. session (I play guitar and sing occasionally).

Won a competition for amateur theater representing an adaptation of Ten little Indians by Agatha Christie.

I was an extra in Game of Thrones (Season 6). If you look closely you can see my face in a couple of frames (I was a Tyrell army soldier).
